Recommended Insurance Plans Based On Your Career & Age Group

Aside from the three insurance plans you should get in Singapore (namely Medical Expense Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, and Life Insurance), below are the recommended insurance plans you should take based on your career.
Professionals, managers, executives, and technicians stationed in office.
If you are covered under Group Insurance, the policy typically has certain requirements for admission:
Full-time employment status;
Citizenship or residency status as a Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR), or holding a valid employment pass;
Age between 16 and 65 years;
Actively working on the day the insurance coverage begins (not on sick leave or annual leave);
Some employers may impose a probationary period (usually three to six months) before new employees become eligible to enroll in the Group Insurance plan.
Office-based occupations that entail frequent travel to various sites or production lines (e.g. insurance representatives, tour guides and journalists), as well as shop-based roles with minimal manual labor, and senior supervisory positions in light manufacturing companies fall under this category.
Compared to deskbound workers, these individuals are exposed to greater occupational risks. Therefore, I recommend considering Personal Accident Insurance to provide coverage for accidental injuries or disabilities.
Occupations encompassing light-skilled manual work, medical-related roles, and shop-based jobs with light manual labor fall into this category. Examples include bakers, delivery personnel, hawkers, and retail workers. Additionally, roles involving semi-skilled or unskilled manual labor of medium to heavy intensity or in manufacturing sectors, such as bus drivers, commercial airline crew, and armed security guards, are included.
For individuals facing higher occupational risks, Personal Accident Insurance and Disability Income Insurance are worth considering. In the unfortunate event of an accident, Disability Income Insurance provides a salary replacement of 75% or less of their pre-disability earnings, ensuring they can maintain their pre-accident standard of living.
Foreign Workforce (non-Singaporeans and non-PRs)
Since January 1, 2008, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has mandated that every employer in Singapore must purchase and maintain minimum medical insurance coverage for their foreign workers and foreign domestic workers (maids) throughout their employment tenure.
This requirement applies to all S Pass holders and Work Permit holders, and insurance coverage must be at least S$60,000 annually.
Co-payment of 75% is paid by insurers and 25% by employers for claim amounts above $15,000.
The coverage includes medical expenses for inpatient and day surgeries, encompassing hospital bills even for conditions unrelated to work.
A co-payment arrangement can be implemented with the Work Permit holder under certain conditions:
The co-payment amount is reasonable and does not exceed 10% of the employee’s monthly salary.
The co-payment duration does not surpass six (6) months.
The co-payment option is explicitly stated in the employment contract or collective agreement and has the full consent of the worker.
Elderly Workforce
Long-Term Care Insurance helps to cover the costs of long-term care services (e.g. home care or nursing care) to those who are unable to perform at least three of the six Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) – washing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and transferring.
CareShield Life for a person born in 1980 or later:
He will be covered even if he has pre-existing medical conditions and/or disabilities under CareShield Life.
If he was born between 1980 and 1990, he would have automatically joined CareShield Life in 2020.
If he was born after 1990, he will join CareShield Life when he turns 30.
Features of CareShield Life:
Premium payments for CareShield Life cease at age 67 regardless of the individual's health condition. However, coverage persists beyond age 67, offering lifelong support for long-term care needs.
If a person makes a claim at age 30, they will receive $600 monthly payout for life; otherwise, the payout increases annually until age 67 or until a successful claim is made.
Government subsidies are provided to ensure premiums remain affordable, ensuring that nobody loses coverage due to an inability to pay premiums.
Premiums can be fully covered by MediSave.
需是全职就业;
是新加坡公民、新加坡永久居民(SPR)或持有有效的工作准证;
年龄在16至65岁之间;
在保险生效日当天有上班(当时不拿病假或年假);
CareShield Life 的特点:
